What is Extreme Community Makeover?
Extreme Community Makeover coordinates volunteer teams to partner with underserved people to improve their own homes and neighborhoods. These projects build safer environments; cultivate community among residents, neighborhoods, and networks of local resource providers; and connect residents to a permanent path towards healthy, hopeful, and stable lives.
5280 Waste Solutions provides discounted dumpsters for these community clean up projects around Denver. 5280 echos Extreme Community Makeover's mission of keeping the neighborhoods of Denver clean and safe.
Getting Our Hands Dirty
5280 Waste Solutions and sister company Starlight Software Solutions teamed up with Extreme Community Makeover for a volunteer day on Sept 12th. We were split into 3 groups to tackle a variety of projects.
We joined 3 other organizations that day for a combined 50 volunteers that completed 4 projects in the designated neighborhood. Our main focus that day was to clear an alley way that was covered with weeds, trash and other debris. Our team worked together doing many landscaping tasks like trimming trees, raking, and picking up trash.
"I enjoyed helping clean-up the community and getting to know my coworkers a little better. It was fun and hard work, but super rewarding", said Susie Mendoza, Bookkeeper at 5280 Waste Solutions. The team loved being able to work together to finish the project. Below you can see the finished, clean alley way.
